Informative About Coffee
Peet's offers complete information on the source of the coffee, including its work with farmers of that area, and what to expect of the coffee's body and "liveliness" (Peet's retail word for acidity, measured between smooth and bright). For each coffee, Peet's also allows and displays customer reviews of the specific coffee, and to show how much their people love the stuff, employee reviews for your consideration.
Variety of Coffee
Peet's offers as varied a source for coffee as you'll find, and it's through over 40 years of being in the business. Coffee from all parts of the world are represented. Occasionally, Peet's connections with farmers in coffee-producing countries offer up, in addition to their already complete offering, more obscure coffees like their limited supply of Tanzanian coffee. Every coffee of the world is represented. You will find it all here.
Customer Service
Peet's offers all of your usual best practices for customer service, including e-mail support, toll-free telephone support during regular business hours, and a snail mail address. If you need to reach somebody, you can.
Brand Equity
Peet's marketing machine hasn't quite matched Starbucks', but this is a recognized and reputable name in coffee retailing - brick and mortar in California for the most part - and certainly in online retailing. They have had some fun with their registered Peetniks club name, the renowned label for their devoted coffee lover following. Over forty years of coffee retailing.
Membership Benefits
The Peetniks club offers a fully customizable delivery of all available coffees, and delivered in whatever interval you'd like from 7 days to 70 days. The whole catalog is open to customize into your plan, so you'll never run out of fresh supply of the coffees you've chosen. If you need to adjust after you open a membership, it's no problem to revise the coffees and delivery intervals you've selected. To entice you to join, Peet's will pay for 15% of your shipping charges and even send you a free tote bag for joining.

Safety and Security
Peet's could do more to show how certified their process of taking and storing your confidential information. There is plenty of information on their website concerning their policies and practices in order to make sure your information is kept secret and safe, but it never hurts to show the third party certifications that clear any doubt.
Tangible Experience for the Shopper
Peet's does an outstanding job, as does Starbucks, in bringing the 'romance' of coffee to your shopping experience. They even offer sampler packs, but unlike Boca Java, who excels in this area, do not sell these sample packs individually so that shoppers can trial the source before signing up with bigger orders and potentially a club membership.
